Keith Bulluck signs with the New York Giants

Keith Bulluck signs with Giants

The Titans clearly didn't want him, so enjoy New Jersey, Keith.

It’s time for Titans’ fans to start singing some Hall and Oates. He’s gone. He signed with the New York Giants today.

What is left to say about Keith Bulluck’s legacy? He was the team’s post Super Bowl first-round draft pick. You can get a bargain at the end of the first round or you can get Dimitrius Underwood. Bulluck played for ten seasons in Nashville and before last year’s ACL tear had missed one game in his career. He was the team’s defensive leader. Between 2002 and 2006 he had almost 700 total tackles. Don’t forget that he was Mr. Monday night as well.

There has been endless speculation about Wes Welker’s recovery from an ACL tear in January. Bulluck tore his ACL two weeks prior to that. Is he going to play in 2010? I guess the Giants think so. The Titans don’t, and I think he was gone before the injury.

Veteran leadership is in short supply on the defense. Tony Brown, Stephen Tulloch, and Chris Hope are going to have the be the guys. Will Witherspoon is a space-holder. Rennie Curran seems like the heir apparent. Just like when Vince Young signed with the team and the high-end speculation for his career would be to become another Steve McNair, we can hope that Curran becomes another Keith Bulluck. The team could use one.

Chris Johnson needs a RB coach the way Albert Pujols needs a hitting coach. Kennedy Pola, former Jaguars running back coach, took the place of Earnest Byner just a few months ago. Is Byner now on speed dial? In typical Lane Kiffin fashion, he stole Pola away to be the USC offensive coordinator, because when you have a chance to coach a disgraced college program instead of the best running back in the NFL, you do not hesitate.

Lane Kiffin would break up with a girl via text, if she’s lucky.

Will the 2010 Titans be better or worse than last year?

May 19th, 2010 by Rogersworthe | 8 Comments | Filed in Tennessee Titans

It’s the question every fan except New Orleans Saints fans are asking. Some have more realistic shots than others to hope. I find this question much more valid for us Titans fans than I do for Texans fans, who obviously peaked last year and now will come crashing to earth after a steroid induced 9-7 high.

This is obviously fan optimism here, but I think the Titans will be better in 2010 than in 2009. Here’s why:

  • Vince Young: This is the #1 reason. I think Vince will be very good this year. I expect something close to 22+ TDs and less than 10 INTs from him this year, and I don’t think that’s ridiculous. If Vince has a good year, I think 10-6 is in the bag.

Breaking down why to not break down the playoffs

November 19th, 2009 by Spizz | 1 Comment | Filed in Playoffs, Tennessee Titans

000000;">We’re ten weeks into the season and playoff talk has officially begun. We’re starting to see some speculation as to whether or not the Titans could win out and steal a wild card spot. Michael Strahan says that a post-season appearance for us isn’t not a possibility, and he knows a thing or two about things on TV with an outside chance of success (zing!). But do the Titans really have a shot at the playoffs? Fuck if I know.

Fox exec somewhere: Now take this, and at a parapalegic brother! Its gold!

Fox exec somewhere: "Now take this, and add a parapalegic brother! It's comedy gold!"

000000;">Let’s break this down. At this point, it’s reasonably safe (and by “reasonably safe” I mean “still wild speculation”) to assume that New England and Indianapolis will win the AFC East and South, respectively. Barring some sort of monumental implosion, which you can never rule out with a team God hates, Cincinnati will probably win the AFC North (they’ve already swept both of the real teams in their division their remaining games include Oakland, Cleveland, Detroit, and Kansas City). The AFC West is still a toss up between Denver and Whale’s Vagina, so that puts the wild card picture a little something like this:

Posse Review: Titans vs. Jaguars Week 8

November 2nd, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Posse Review
Chris Johnso, you are my hero.

Chris Johnson, you are my hero.

So the Tennessee Titans get their first win of the season 8 weeks in. That’s rough. However, we won. That’s good. I actually didn’t even know how I should format this Posse Review because I realized all of my formatting is based off of games we lost. So.. here it goes.

How the Titans Won

  • Offensive Playcalling: Mike Heimerdinger finally got his head out of his ass and made play calls that made sense in the moment they happened. No 3rd and 1 bombs. No 3rd and 8 draw plays. He even used LenDale White to kill time late in the game. GOOD JOB COACH. YOU AREN’T A TOTAL MORON.
  • Chris Johnson – god of War: Chris Johnson played like a man possessed. I have now seen him do twice what no other Runningback in the league can do, except maybe Adrian Peterson. It isn’t just speed either. Reggie Bush is fast, he isn’t doing this. Darren McFadden can’t seem to get anything going in Oakland. Chris Johnson is the complete package. He can (although doesn’t often, but he can) run tough. He sees the hole and he hits it. HARD. He puts pressure on the defense to be in perfect position or else he will make them pay. Also, his ability to accelerate after breaking a tackle (like his 89 yard run yesterday) is amazing.
  • Vince Young played under control: I will be doing a whole post on his play and what the Titans should expect from him and such, so for this review all I will say is he did everything he was asked of him and more. His decision making was really, really impressive. He kept the offense on the field, even on drives that didn’t end in scoring he would get 2-3 first downs. This was huge for our defense.
  • Defense played better: Rod Hood – 7 year veteran from Philadelphia and Arizona – came in on short notice and played really, really well. Hood > Harper. Much better. Vandenbosch finally got a sack. Jason Jones looked fierce. Thornton was blowing plays up. At this point I would like to mention that THIS is what the Titans defense can do in spurts. The secret? Keeping them off the field. And the Titans did that. The defense was only on the field for 21 minutes. And it showed. Outside of the two runs by Maurice Jones-Drew which could serve as great examples on how NOT to tackle, the defense played well.
  • Titans scored more points than the Jaguars: The key to winning any game in the NFL.

Concerns for the future (more…)

Posse Preview Week 8: Titans vs. Jaguars

October 30th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Posse Preview

So… round 2. Round 1 didn’t go so well for the Titans. This preview will be short because much that was written in the last one still applies, except it’s now Vince Young who needs to avoid turnovers.

Wouldn't mind seeing a little of this on Sunday

[/caption]

An interesting fact for this game is how the Titans are actually favored by 3 points. Crazy, crazy world. As for a preview this week I will just highlight a few things the Titans will need to do to win:

  • Run early and often: This is Vince’s first start in a LONG time and it wasn’t like he was awesome before. So to avoid a confidence crushing early interception, running the ball and providing some balance for him would be nice. This means that Heimerdinger will probably open with 12 passes.
  • Defense HAS to be better: I don’t know how. I don’t know if it’s possible. But the Titans will need to if they want to win.
  • Run plays suited for Vince’s strength: No long developing multiple read passing plays over the middle, okay Heimerdinger? That’s a recipe for disaster.
  • Score more points than the Jagaurs: All the analysis in the world doesn’t explain the real reason the Titans are 0-6… they haven’t scored more points than the other team at the end of the game.

We made it to ESPN’s frontpage!

October 20th, 2009 by Spizz | No Comments | Filed in Phun With Photoshop

Apparently ESPN got the memo we ordained this week Jeff Fisher Week and decided to stick that rugged mustache on their home page. See how much influence we have?

I also caught this one up for a few seconds before they changed it:
