Man who sold gun in the McNair Murder sentenced to 30 months jailtime

December 18th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Tragic

For illegally selling a gun, Adrian Gilliam is getting 30 months in prison. This pretty much wraps up all the loose ends of this case, unless you believe in the conspiracy theories espoused by The Big Lead and Pro Football Talk.

I’m glad this is all done. Such a sad story. I feel awful for McNair’s children.

T-Rac’s Fake Mailbag: 0-4 Edition

October 5th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 7 Comments | Filed in T-Rac's Mailbag

So I have a few scattered thoughts about the Tennessee Titans and their 0-4 season and the direction of the organization. However, I could not think of a way to get all these thoughts into one post, and most were too short to make a post on their own. So, I did what any sane person would do: I email the questions to myself from fake email addresses with fake names, drink a bottle of rubbing alcohol, then I open my email and VOILA! All of a sudden I have all these emails from people asking questions about the Titans! So I make a mailbag post and answer the questions in these emails from “real” people.

Rogersworthe,

Why is Jeff Fisher sticking with Kerry Collins? And do you think he would have stuck by Vince if Vince had been 0-4? Also what is your ASL?

~Super Hot Amber

Good questions Amber! Let me throw you my genius thoughts on it. Fisher has always been loyal to his starting QB. I believe he will publicly say Collins is the starter until the second Vince Young is put in a game. It’s how Jeff Fisher has always operated. This means though that we the fans have no idea when Vince Young will be coming in, and that is rather frustrating. I personally think Vince should be in now, however Fisher will probably start Collins into the bye week.

Now to your second question, I have seen this in a lot of places. There is a lot inferred in the question, and I believe most of the inference is towards racism. I disagree with this sentiment. Fisher stuck by McNair when McNair struggled and O’Donnel filled in and played well. Many, many, many people in Nashville were calling for O’Donnel to be the starter and to declare McNair a big, fat bust and Fisher refused to and stuck by McNair. So, please take the inferred racism elsewhere.

As for my asl, I’m a 53/f/MI.

T-Rac,

What should this team do for the future if we go 4-12?

How at fault is Kerry Collins?

How at fault is Kerry Collins for the 0-3 start?

How at fault is Kerry Collins for the 0-3 start?

So, where do you stand? I know you have an opinion. EVERYBODY does. Should the Titans keep starting Kerry Collins, or is it time to give troubled Quarterback of the future Vince Young another shot? To settle the issue, I think it would be important to contemplate another question: How at fault is Kerry Collins for this 0-3 start? (more…)

Lightspeed Links: Dad for a day

September 17th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 1 Comment | Filed in Tragic

Vince Young showed up unexpectedly and took Steve McNair’s kids to their school’s “Dear Dad’s Breakfast” at a local restaurant. Regardless of how I feel about him as a player, this is a geniunely compassionate and commendable thing he did. Just awesome. Enjoy the story.

Top 10 Titans: Quarterbacks

August 3rd, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 3 Comments | Filed in Top 10 Titans
So, after being inspired enough by a discussion on Music City Miracles to write this post on the Top 10 Titans Wide Receivers of all time , I have decided to continue the listing of Top 10 Titans at various positions. Here is the highly anticipated list of TOP 10 QUARTERBACKS IN TENNESSEE TITANS HISTORY!!!!
  • 10. Alex Mortensen – He has gotten enough peripheral media coverage due to who his Dad is to stick out from the rest of the Quarterbacks who have never made the Titans final roster.

This 12 year old is the 10th best Titans QB of all time. Sweet, huh?

  • 9. Mike Green – He threw only two passes for the two-toned blue. Both were interceptions. Both returned quite a distance. His average yards per attempt? -45.0. In fact, I don’t understand why he is listed as a QB, because we drafted him out of Houston in the 7th round as a RB. -45.0. Wow.
  • 8. Chris Simms – He had one completion in two attempts for 7 yards. Also, no interceptions. That gets you pretty high on this list.
  • 7. Matt Mauck - Well, Mr. Mauck will be able to tell his grandkids that he was 15 for 27 with 136 yards, 0 Touchdowns and 1 Interception in his career. That is most definitely good enough for 7th all-time on T-Rac’s Official Tennessee Titans Top 10 Greatest QB’s List. Prestigious company. (more…)

Lightspeed Links: Faster than the speed of 100 mbps

  • Gary Estwick of the Tennessean points out that tickets this year sold out in hours rather than minutes, and subsequently complains about the economy.

“Yes, they did sell out, extending another season of sellouts for the downtown stadium. But it also showed how the nation’s economy has affected the operations of your favorite NFL football team.”

So just how has this affected the operations our favorite NFL football team? Well, every game sold out, again, just like last year, so by my calculations, the only change is that whoever the franchise employs to sell tickets got to work for a few hours rather than a few minutes. Those bastards.

The Tennessean really needs to update their cameraphones.

  • Bill Simmons discusses the the events surrounding Steve McNair’s death in his 7/15 podcast and questions the “surprise” from both the media and Mechelle McNair regarding Steve’s infidelity. Special bonus: Simmons doesn’t mention a single reality T.V. show. (Also listen carefully at 28:40 if you want to hear Chris Connelly say “y’know” four times in a row.)

Lightspeed Links: Camper Edition

July 17th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Lightspeed Links

Presenting the fastest links in the biz. Not quick links, LIGHTSPEED LINKS.

Alright so let’s get this party started.

Gary Estwick of the Tennesseean writes that while 90% of the 3,000 single game tickets available for sale will be sold either online or through a phone system, there are still the “Campers” who spend the night out at LP Field. He even quotes one:

“That’s the only way we do it,” William Sutton explained. Uh Will…. you don’t mind if I call you Will, right? Yeah. Will. It’s not. It’s the only STUPID way to do it. Get a life. Or a computer. Or a phone, for that matter.

These guys apparently get out there early in the week. EARLY IN THE WEEK. There was no mention of them taking off work so I assume they’re unemployed. Regardless, to camp at LP Field for a few days to get tickets when you can get them online and not have to camp? T-Rac does not approve. And he eats trash. (more…)

We are going to try and help them get the word out, so please head over there and vote and sign on this petition. They have been awesome in helping us build an audience, so we will try to return the favor as best we can with getting the word out on this petition.

Sign the petition here! It’s the right thing to do, America. So do. So do.

PosseCast: Steve McNair and His Legacy

July 8th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 3 Comments | Filed in PosseCasts, Tragic

So I got together with Spizz and The Raging Clam to discuss Steve McNair and the damage done to his legacy caused by the surrounding events of his tragic death. It lead to some interesting discussions on his Hall of Fame chances, his importance in the local community, his influence in the black community, whether his legacy should be tarnished, and how much of an effect this has on his previous reputation of a philanthropist.

Warning: If issues of race, gun control, and the details of Steve McNair’s death bother you, it would be best for you not to listen. We do not wish to offend anybody, but we do ask questions and give opinions on these subjects because we feel they are questions some people want asked and answered and talked about. However, we know this doesn’t apply to everybody, so listen at your own risk.
