Peter King leads a hard life

February 3rd, 2010 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Media Failures

Poor Peter King. He leads such a hard life. People don’t like his writing!!

Well, at least @PackFanJason can understand Peter’s pain. He tweeted Peter King with some sympathy:

How do you deal with all the vitriol? Even the simple Favre injury pics get you evil tweets.

Peter King was so happy about finally getting some sympathy! He responded with this tweetback:

It is the life I lead.

Oh poor Peter. It must be hard to be a mockery of a journalist who throws any and all objectivity out the window and then get criticized for it. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of dollars in salary! Just the burden on his shoulders must be TREMENDOUS!! NOBODY UNDERSTANDS THE PAIN OF PETER KING!!!

The man who suffers his labor for the sake of the fan. A true hero.

I hate Peter King and Brett Favre so, so much…

January 25th, 2010 by Rogersworthe | 2 Comments | Filed in Media Failures

Original? No. True? Fuck yes.

Kissing Suzy Kolber has all but cornered the market on mocking Peter King, and I salute them for their great work in this field. However, I have to address this quote on my own. It infuriates me too much not to:

No matter what you think of Favre — and it’s no secret I think he’s the most charismatic and interesting player I’ve covered — you have to admire how he bleeds in front of us. He goes out and gets the snot knocked out of him (“We were determined to hit him over and over and make him feel it,” said none other than his old friend with the Packers, Saints safetyDarren Sharper), somehow survives, then makes a throw he never should have made.

See, Peter, no I fucking don’t. I DON’T have to admire shit about the fact that he “bleeds” in front of us. Let me explain why:

  1. Everybody on the damn field takes a beating and bleeds for us. It’s football. Favre doesn’t take half the beating his Offensive Lineman take. IT’S FOOTBALL, YOU MORON!!!
  2. He get’s paid 8 figures. There are hundreds upon thousands of people who would be exactly what he does if they had the talent. It’s a game. He gets an ungodly amount of money to play it. Part of that game is getting hit. So I don’t have to ADMIRE SHIT ABOUT A GUY WHO GETS PAID $15+ MILLION FOR HIS TROUBLES OF GETTING HIT IN A FOOTBALL GAME!!!
  3. He somehow survives because it isn’t that hard to survive. Hits to the head and helmet on a QB are illegal. He is wearing all kinds of state of the art padding to protect his body. In fact, the success rate of survival on QBs is 100%. Not one QB has died from being sacked. Not even David Carr.

Peter King, you have set the standard for heroism pretty damn low. Favre got hit in a football game, then ended his teams season with a truly atrocious decision and throw. By the way, this is the 3rd time Brett Favre has ended his and his teams season in the playoffs with an Interception while the game was either tied or within reach of one score. This is Peter King’s definition of what should be admired and regarded as heroic.

The sad part is Peter King represents the views of several sports media personalities and ESPN as a whole. It’s frustrating and ridiculous. I would like to read just one unbiased approach from a major media member to Favre and his actions on and off the field. Apparently that is way too much to ask. It’s like asking an inexperienced, smooth-talking idealist to run a huge superpower on the verge of serious economic collapse.

Fuck you, fat man.

You would be an abomination to sports writing if it wasn't already so bad.

Opponent Bashing Thursday: New England Patriots

October 15th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 5 Comments | Filed in Opponent Bashing

So, Spizz, a kind and gentle soul who understands the needs of his fellow man, texted me this week and asked, “Would you like to fill in for opponent bashing this week? I know the Patriots have a special spot of hatred in your heart.”

Yes, Spizz, I certainly do. But see, it isn’t just the Patriots. It’s Boston. That whole damn city is evil. And not only is it Boston, it’s NEW ENGLAND. I HATE NEW ENGLAND. Hate time:

  • Somehow, Boston gets this reputation for being a smart town. With MIT and Harvard in town, people assume that it means the city has some sort of special amount of smart people. However the combined enrollment of these two schools are 25,796. The city itself has a population of 7,514,759. That means the city of Boston has a population of 7,488,963 of loud assholes named Sully wearing a Red Sox hat backwards while they call each other “gay”, “fahkin retahded”, and “Dahnkin Donahts”. That city STANDS ON THE SHOULDERS OF INTELLECTUAL GIANTS!!   *throws up on himself*
  • Speaking of, the Bostonian accent is literally the most annoying English based accent in the world. New Englanders like to claim its actually a Southern accent, but I would rather listen to Scarlett O’Hara any day than some douche bag from Boston discuss why Wes Welker is better than Jerry Rice.
  • Good Will Hunting was a pretty decent movie. Only one problem with it: it spawned a generation of Bostonians who now say every chance they get, “How do ya like them apples?” Listen needle dick, ITS NOT FUNNY WHEN YOU DO IT! ITS STUPID! YOU SOUND LIKE A CLICHED MORON WHO CAN’T COME UP WITH A REAL THOUGHT!!
Thanks for spawning the worst catchphrase in the history of the world, douchenozzle.

  • The word “wicked”. Nothing makes me want stab someone in the face with my house key, then stick them in a box with 300 starved, rabies infested rats than somebody saying, “That was wicked awesome!”. Go fahk yahself.
  • Peter King lives there. (more…)

Media Critique Monday: NFL Week 1

September 14th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 3 Comments | Filed in Media Failures

So, by late afternoon on Mondays, I have usually seen enough to know what a few common themes the mainstream media is pounding out and throwing our way. Most are legitimate if over-covered. That’s the media now, including blogs like this one. Everything is over-covered. But a few stories being shoved down our throat are total bullshit. I will try to bring light to these stories to you, the faithful readers of the Wisdom of T-Rac and his Posse.

Kyle Orton is 1-0; Jay Cutler is 0-1: Such a common theme, I’ve seen 3 national writers bring it up, including the amazingly original Peter King. This is a bullshit way to look at it. It’s sensationalizing at its best, and sums up everything I hate about people like Chris Berman and Peter King. Josh McDaniels took an offense that a year ago was playing really well in Denver and carrying the worst defense in NFL history to an 8-8 record, which is actually quite an accomplishment, and scored 6 points that didn’t involve fluky tipped passes on the CINCINNATI BENGALS. Orton then throws a pass that in virtually any other game is intercepted, but this time leads to one of the craziest and fluky endings in a long time. On top of it, Michael Lombardi of the National Football Post summed up the failure of the Bengals best here:

“I feel so bad for the Bengals, but situational football is a huge part of the NFL. Where was the deepest man on the field? Who cares if they catch it? All they had to do was tackle anyone who touched the ball. A defense cannot get outflanked. I know this is a little like second-guessing, but it’s paramount to the situation. I wonder if the Bengals worked on that one?”

The Bengals define bad situational football, and it cost them in that fluky play. Should Josh McDaniels get credit for that? NO.

Now, Jay Cutler played horribly in the loss to the Packers, but a few points should be made about that as well: 1) The Bears receivers suck. 2) The Packers are infinitely better than the Bengals. 3) The Bears, despite Jay Cutler’s 4 interceptions, still put up more points than the Broncos, and they did not have a fluky play to do it. Jay Cutler has a lot of questions to answer for his play, but to suggest Kyle Orton played just as well or to even hint at it with this suggestive headline is laziness on the part of the media and sensationalizing bullshit. AVOID ANY WRITER THAT USES THIS AS A TOPIC FOR A COLUMN OR EVEN MENTIONS IT.

Sorry, no credit in my book for beating THE BENGALS with one of the luckiest plays in NFL history.

Lightspeed Links: Too funny not to share

September 3rd, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Lightspeed Links

Well, I have found a few links, some football related, some not, that are too funny not to share. Here goes:

Bill Belichick cries and his tears eat through the podium. That’s just funny. I still am laughing about it. I love the Onion.

Texas jokes always rule.

Jason Whitlock losing what little sanity he had left and going after Mike Lupica, Scoop Jackson, Stuart Scott, Rick Reilly, and more. All in an article about Eri nAndrews going on Oprah. My favorite two excerpts are the lashings he gives Rick Reilly and Peter King:

Rick Reilly: In a cliche and pointless 800-word column that will be read by tens of hundreds of readers who find it while looking for Bill Simmons’ column, Reilly will reveal how his agent hoodwinked ESPN into a $3-million-a-year contract.

Peter King: Plans to release steamy pics of himself spooning and sipping Starbucks coffee with Brett Favre while watching the movie “Steel Magnolias.”

OH NO HE DIDN’T!!! I love it. I know the average person hates Jason Whitlock and he has pissed me off royally several times, but I find him extremely fun and entertaining. Who else has the balls to write this piece and offend that many people? NOBODY. Bill Simmons WISHES he had the balls to write that.

Deadspin writes an article about a ridiculous rant done by Adam Carolla. I hate Adam Carolla. I don’t think he is funny. But this is funny just to see how angry he is at ESPN. Seeing someone call ESPN a bunch of “Chicken retard pussy bosses” is always a treat.

I hope these keep you entertained for a bit as they did for me. The Whitlock piece is truly hilarious. I loved it.

Hopefully Lando will be Live Tweeting the game tonight. We’ll see if he can. I will not be available, unfortunately. If I had to miss a game though, this is the game.

August 20th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in PosseCasts

So I am joined by Lando, our fantasy expert, and our most recurring guest Andrew from Los Angeles. We discuss Brett Favre, the pitiful nature of the Cleveland Browns, PETA and its stupidity, and the weirdness of NFL Players owning Car Washes.

This one came out well and is quite funny. It helps we all hate Brett Favre and love making fun of him. If you enjoy this also, THEN DEFINITELY LISTEN!

However, if you love Brett Favre, then stop reading my site you asshole. Also don’t listen to this.

Brett Favre is staying retired and Media continues in worship

July 28th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 3 Comments | Filed in Media Failures, Rest of the NFL

Many reports are coming out now saying that Brett Favre is staying retired. Whatever. Not really a big news story. But the worship of him and defense of him by the Media is continuing on. Already, Chris Mortensen, who I actually like, tweeted (or twatted, however you say it) this: “Yes we have confirmed Brett staying retired. Good decision. Remember without Vikings’ interest, never would have been a story.”

Bullshit.

He is obviously trying to defend Favre pre-emptively with that line that starts with “Remember”. That’s total bullshit, and I fully expect the Favre-loving contingent in the media to take this line. Mortensen, Peter King, Colin Cowherd, everybody else on ESPN, I’m sure a few on NFLN which I don’t get and have never seen. They’ll all take this line. And I am warning you, it’s bullshit.

Don't be fooled. Favre is the master of media manipulation and a gloryhound.

Damion Hack Lives Up to His Name

June 8th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 1 Comment | Filed in Media Failures

So, found in our friends Music City Miracles’ links post today was an article by Sports Illustrated writer Damion Hack. The name of the article? “Spoiler Alert! Why eight division expectations won’t pan out”. I took a gander on over and found that Damion Hack lives up to his illustrious name. The outline is he presents the “conventional wisdom expectations” of each division, then writes a “Spoiler Alert!” as to why it’s wrong.

He fails. Miserably.

Some examples, if you will:

AFC East Expectation:
Tom Brady returns to Patriots, throws for 4,000 yards, leads team to Super Bowl. Harps play in New England, choirs sing.

Spoiler alert Excerpt: Brady may still get his yards and the Patriots their wins, but a year without reps, timing and optimum health can disturb even the most elite athletes. Just ask Tiger Woods.

T-Rac’s Take: So let me get this straight. Your point is that people expect Tom Brady to return to form and destroy the NFL and you counter it with “Well he might do that, but he’ll be disturbed while doing it. Look at Tiger Woods! He may have just made an amazing comeback at the Memorial, but… you can tell, he’s disturbed. Same results as before, yes, but he’s definitely disturbed.” Fail.
