Posse Review: Titans vs. Texans Week 11 MNF

November 24th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Posse Review

VIIIIIICTOOOORRRRRYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

After listening to Texans fans talk the whole week and discuss how good their team is and how they’re ready to make the next step and go to the playoffs blah blah blah… The Titans crushed them. Humiliated them on National Television. It was GLORIOUS!

Vince Young has completely matured. Heck, check out this suit:

THAT is the suit of a winner

THAT is the suit of a winner

What a mature suit. A winner. A Quaterback.

Reasons Why the Titans Won

  • Bend but don’t Break: Our defense gave up a lot of passing yards. 305 of them. But they only let Houston score 17 points. They did what they had to do, and got the stops they needed to.
  • Defensive Line: The young guys have picked up the mantle. Haye, Hayes, Marks, Brown, Vickerson, Ford, and even Vandenbosch were getting in on the act. This was with Jason Jones out. The D-Line is key to this team, and it looks like they’ve figured out that it’s on them. Tony Brown is a BEAST. They are the key to our defense.
  • Control the Clock: The offense only scored 20 points, but I feel like they played much better than when they played the 1st game. They controlled the clock. Even when they didn’t score, they would pick up a couple 1st downs to flip field position. The offense was big.
  • Vince Young: I will once again be doing my weekly post on his play, so I will keep this to one sentence. His command of the offense is really, really impressive.
  • Chris Johnson: The guy continues to impress every week. He has turned into a true feature back. He got all the tough yards when they needed it. The Texans “contained” him to 5.2 yards a carry. Yeah, I’ll take it. What a beast.
  • Texans Miscues: Missed kicks. Steve Slaton’s drops. Not involving Andre Johnson, the one player the Titans have NO answer for, late in the game. Coaching miscues, player miscues, kicking miscues, they all happened. It’s why the Texans are the Texans. And it helped us win.

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!!! TITANS VS TEXANS!! ARE YOU READY!?!?!

November 23rd, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 1 Comment | Filed in AFC South

The game of hope. If we win this, people can say the “P” word with a little, just a little, more credibility. That’s nice and all, but I am a total realist. So my view is more like this: I just want to pop the Texans little bubble.

See, Texans fans are still holding on to the belief that they’re a good team. They hold the belief that they’re an arch-rival to us. They believe that by beating us last time we played, their team proved they’re good and we’re bad.

All of that can come crashing down tonight if the Titans crush them in this game.

2009 Tennessee Titans = Hope Killers. For once, it’d be nice to apply that title to the other team.

Posse Preview: Titans vs. Texans Week 11 – The Battle of the Johnsons

November 23rd, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 4 Comments | Filed in Posse Preview

Ah yes. The Texans. A team I have come to hate more and more. So here we are, in roles I would’ve never predicted before the season. The Titans have a chance to play spoilers to the Texans playoff hopes. I know at 5-5 they wouldn’t technically be out of it, but that’d put them on the path to 8-8, which is where they always end up. Also, 8-8 isn’t making it to the playoffs this year. Alright, so lets preview this sucker.

Id love to see CJ crack 200 yards on MNF

I'd love to see CJ crack 200 yards on MNF

Strengths for the Titans

  • CHRIS JOHNSON: I wouldn’t be surprised to see this turn into the “Chris Johnson Show” as he breaks 200 yards on national TV and he becomes a national sensation.
  • Pass Rush: It’s back. And we’ll ne ed it.
  • Field Goal Kicking: It might matter in this game. Kris Brown vs. Indy, anyone?

Weaknesses for the Titans

  • Coverage: If the pass rush doesn’t get there, it will get painful. In a hurry. It would help if Griffin didn’t take off in a full sprint at the line of scrimmage every play action.
  • Playing from behind: This team is not built to get in a shootout with the Texans, and it could turn into that in a hurry.
  • Andre Johnson: Scary…

PosseCast: NFL Lines Week 11

November 19th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in PosseCasts

I am joined by Lando and The Meena for a mega podcast. We start of debating the 4th down call from the Patriots-Colts game. From there, we delve into college football and the insanity that is the BCS system. We also end up discussing the Bud Adams middle finger “scandal”, and we’re all in agreement there: Bud Adams is a badass.

At this point we review the action from Week 10, and are shocked to find out Theodore beat both The Meena and I in picking games based on the logic that Detroit plays dirty and the Wisconsin cheese would “infect the Dallas people”. Sigh…

We then move on to Week 11 and pick the games against the spread. I finish off the podcast by having my old roommate, Simon, pick the Week 11 games as the representative of the “guy who knows nothing about the NFL”.

Lando is in rare form for this Podcast and comes after both The Meena and I several times. Quite hilarious. So take a listen and enjoy the arguing and yelling and off-color jokes.
