Fire Jeff Fisher? That’s absurd

October 7th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 35 Comments | Filed in Tennessee Titans

So with this 0-4 start the grumblings have begun: it is time to fire Jeff Fisher. This is not the cry of the majority of the fanbase, but a significant enough portion to where the conversation is being had. However, I am telling you now, firing Jeff Fisher is a VERY BAD IDEA.

Jeff is still a top 10 coach in this league

Jeff is still a top 10 coach in this league

We all know about how this season has taken the expectations of Titans fans and the team and crapped all over them. 4 weeks in and the Titans have already lost more games than last year. It is almost excepted wisdom that it is time to bring back Vince Young. Most fans have given up on making the playoffs, they just want to see the Titans avoid total embarrassment at 3-13 (some people even have 0-16 in the back of their heads).

So, who does the fanbase blame when these expectations aren’t met? The coaches. And this year, I believe it is deservedly so. However, that does not mean it is time to end the Jeff Fisher era. You don’t just fire a top 10 coach for one season of unmatched expectations. (more…)

Who hates Mike Florio?

September 24th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 2 Comments | Filed in Media Failures

I do.

In this article, he hints at the possibility of firing Jeff Fisher here in Nashville. That’s RETARDED. The part where he mentions it is here:

And this makes us wonder whether Fisher, who has thrived in relative anonymity since 1994 as head coach of the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Oilers/Tennessee Titans, might finally be reaching the end of the line.  For some reason, Fisher has to date escaped the whispers that have plagued other coaches (like Philadelphia’s Andy Reid) regarding whether, in the modern NFL, a point comes whether the players just don’t listen anymore.

With big names like Bill Cowher, Mike Holmgren, and Mike Shanahan slowly circling in search of the coming coaching carcasses, there’s a chance that 80-something owner Bud Adams will decide that the time for a change has come.

Which, of course, would likely delight Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who undoubtedly would welcome Fisher to Dallas in a heartbeat.

So in 3 short paragraphs he has Jeff Fisher getting fired, Mike Shanahan taking over, and the Dallas Cowboys hiring Jeff Fisher. All without a modicum of evidence except that the Titans lost their first two games by a combined 6 points one season after going 13-3.

Mike Florio, you’re an irresponsible asshat.
