News Update: Justin Gage has multiple fractures in his back from incredible 33 yard catch

November 12th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in TItans News Updates

MCM had this first, but I think it’s still worth putting up there that Justin Gage has multiple minor fractures in his back from that crazy ass catch against the 49ers.

Apparently these are not serious and that most back fractures require no surgery and are common injuries in car crashes, falls, and crazy ass catches. However, he is unlikely to play in the game against the Bills.

Hopefully, a youngun steps up for the Titans. Like Britt, Edison, or even Hawkins.

Here is the play Gage injured his back on.

Tried, but Not Yet Tested

November 10th, 2009 by Lando | 3 Comments | Filed in Tennessee Titans

Man 2-6 has never felt so good.

The Titans are 2-0 with Vince Young under center.  And he has never looked better for us.  But just how good is he?  The 49ers aren’t exactly world beaters.  Same goes for the Jags.  So as Rogersworthe usually does a wrap up for the Titans as a team after each week, I’m going to be taking a closer look at VY’s performance.  So finish your mushrooms Frodo, cause we’re headed to Weathertop.

Impressed With:

  1. No turnovers.  Vince seems determined to not turn the ball over.  Which is a good, good thing.  That’s been one of the many things that has killed us all year. Costly picks and fumbles lost us at least two games.  Keep up the sting good buddy.
  2. Running seems to be his second option now.  Long gone are the days when Vince would drop back, and then immediately roll out and inevitably throw a pick while getting hurt, and contemplate the meaning of life over a bucket of chicken.  The only time he ran with it was a designed draw or option.
  3. No suicidal chicken runs.
  4. When we are on the ten yard line, no one is more dangerous than Chris Johnson and Vince Young.  Vince’s first TD run was a great design.  And if he continues to pass well defenses can’t just gear up against the run.
  5. Last but not least, it looks like he’s taking this more seriously.  It was a good thing for him to be benched for a year.  I think he used the time to grow up a little.  Every time they show Vince on the sidelines between drives he’s always talking to Dinger and going over pictures, plays, or whatever.  I have to admit I’ve been pretty impressed with him.
Calling the play while hes throwing. Not even Peyton can do that.

Preseason Impressions

August 31st, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 3 Comments | Filed in Tennessee Titans

So we have had 3 1/2 games of preseason football to date, with one more left at Green Bay. The game against Cleveland brought some clarification to some issues we have had in previous games. However, it’s still preseason, the Detroit Lions went 4-0 in preseason last year, so all of these need to be taken with a grain of salt. But here are my thoughts so far on our preseason play:

  • Our offense is going to be good: Even when the 1st team offense struggled in the Tampa Bay and Dallas Cowboys game, you could see it forming. Justin Gage is on a new level, and Nate Washington adds a deep threat dimension that is very real and defenses fear it. This is going to open up the middle of the field for the deepest Tight End position in the league. Also, Kenny Britt as the #3 receiver is perfect for him and he will fill the role well. I am impressed with our offense. Which we will need this year because
  • Our defense will be good, but not dominant: The Defensive line will have its moments, and Jason Jones may add A LOT of what I feel is missing (which is why these should be taken with a grain of salt), but I don’t think we will dominate on the Line like in past years. Nobody commands a double team, which gives opposing offenses some flexibility in how to use their line in pass protection. Also, the more I see our non-pro bowlers in the secondary play, the worse I feel. Teams obviously see Faggins as a HUGE liability and are going right after him (he did get cut from HOUSTON for goodness sake). Fuller is good, but not as good as I was hoping he would be. And Mouton is injured and not getting any reps after showing some promise. The good thing is Tulloch looks like he is taking a step up and Fowler is no slouch as a fill-in/back up.
  • Vince Young ain’t turning the proverbial corner, so shut the fuck up about it: He sucks. He sucks trying to run. He sucks at passing. He sucks at reading defenses. He sucks at professional football. He is Tommy Frazier. The Tennessean and commenters everywhere are saying things like “Well he looked GREAT after throwing that interception for a touchdown!!! It’s important for a Quarterback to recover after errors like that!” IT’S IMPORTANT NOT TO HAVE ERRORS LIKE THAT!!!!!!!!!! GET A BRAIN!!!! It’s year 4 (I kept thinking 3 for some reason earlier today on MCM) and we are trying to say things like “Well, he finally is going through his progressions!” Big. Fat. FAIL. Last night he cost us 10 to 14 points (the argument can be made that if he throws the ball away on the play he made the goalline fumble that Fisher gets the kicking team out there). 10 to 14 points is the game. You cannot give NFL teams 10 to 14 points and expect to win. PERIOD. Kerry Collins doesn’t do that. He doesn’t bring much to the table, but he doesn’t GIVE the other team 10 to 14 points, and that’s why he is the starter. Vince isn’t gonna turn it around. It’s year 4, and he looks like a rookie.
Look, he got cursed in '08, he isn't going to recover. He sucks. He sucks BAD. Let it go.

T-Rac’s Mailbag: Inaugural Edition

June 23rd, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in T-Rac's Mailbag

Hello, fans of T-Rac. Welcome to the first T-Rac’s Posse Mailbag Extravaganza. We definitely got some interesting emails to go with. Let’s get this show started:

Hi, guys (or girls, not really sure what you are). I have a question. T-Rac is the BEST!!!1!

~Todd, Maryville, TN

…..Uh…Todd…. That’s not really a question… but yes. T-Rac is the best mascot in the world, even better than “Willie” the dry-humping shark mascot of a Colombia (the country) junior soccer team. If you disagree, please check our Mascot Power Rankings. It’s all the proof you’ll need.

Lightspeed Links: Basketball Jason Jones?

June 23rd, 2009 by Spizz | 1 Comment | Filed in AFC South, Lightspeed Links, Tennessee Titans
  • Our good friend Paul Kuharsky takes e-mails regarding an All-AFC-South Basketball team, then gives his own lineup (the best imaginary squad since the Monstars, in my opinion). More Titans made the final cut than any other team in the division, which is so totally significant and meaningful! I’ll take that over a Super Bowl ring any day, right?

/takes ten second swig from pocket flask and cries self to sleep despite being at work right now

SG — Justin Gage (receiver, Tennessee)

He played three seasons of college hoop at Missouri, averaging over 14 minutes. I envision him playing great defense and being a solid shooter. With the most high-level hoop experience, he’s the guy who might settle this team down in pressure moments.

Backup: Vince Young. No denying his athleticism, I just couldn’t leave him off and this seems like the spot.

PF — Jason Jones (defensive end, Titans)
Going with experience here, where there maybe other athletes who are more attractive or qualify as bigger names. Jones was a stud basketball player at Lathrup High School in Southfield Mich., averaging 24 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and two blocks in 2003-04 and winning MVP of the Motor City Roundball Classic. I am suitably impressed, and have been told he was “great” in a recent charity game in Nashville.

[PG --] Backup: [Chris] Johnson. I’ll take Johnson over Slaton as CJ played basketball at Olympia High School in Orlando.

Needless to say, the AFC South team would kick the shit out of the Looney Tunes.

  • In other Vince-Young-may-be-good-at-some-athletic-things-but-he-kind-of-sucks-at-quarterback news, Patrick Ramsey is apparently gunning for the second-string position. Wow, a backup quarterback actively trying to improve. Only in Tennessee is this news. As always, Jeff Fisher provides some fascinating insight:

“We’re going to play the best players, and we’re going to have the best players in the backup roles.”

    Riveting.

Top 10 Titans: Wide Receivers

Inspired by a discussion on Music City Miracles about Kevin Dyson being a top 10 receiver in Titans history, it got me to thinking “Who are the top 10 players in Titans history by position?” So, during the extremely boring period of after NBA finals but before training camp (also known as “baseball season” which is also known as HELL) I will be comin’ at ya with the lists of top 10 Titans of all time.

Here are the rules and guidelines: This is TITANS history so it only includes players who played in Nashville and wore a Titans jersey while here. That’s all the rules. ONTO THE LIST!!

Some Possible Titans Players FML’s

June 2nd, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 2 Comments | Filed in Tennessee Titans

So I, like many people, am a big fan of the site fmylife.com. However, over the past few days I’ve found a few ones on there that were slightly suspicious and made me think that maybe, just possibly, they were posted by players on the Titans. I submit the evidence before you and will let you, the audience, be the judge.

scaifedaman93 says: roos gave me a flounder in the shower as a joke. i think it moved FML

SamfordmanFinnie says: Went to an Irish pub for lunch. I told the owner my name, and he said there was another dude by my name that was an IRA bombbuilder in the 70’s . FML

vy10 says:
so I’m chillin with some friends that just happen to work on tv in baltimore, then the next day they put our damn convo ON TV IN BALTIMORE! FML

NateDawg84 says: Asked Coach who numba 1 Receiver is for me to work off. He said I’m the numba 1 stunna. Say whaaa?!?!?! FML

CDSeminole17 says: I’m Chris Davis. FML.

12Gage says: My boss Mike continually looks at me and says “Didn’t you get cut, McCareins? And what exactly is your job anyway?” My name isn’t McCareins. FML

mawaerulez says: Today, I got an “Enlarge your penis” email for the millionth time. I was about to Spam it when I saw the FW: from Kerry Collins. FML

jfish75 says: apparently ‘mustache ride’ has a different meaning nowadays. no wonder I’m on meganslaw. FML.

LenD25 says: I have scored more career Touchdowns than him, and as revenge Reggie Bush is gonna marry the love of my life. Oh Kim, looking back, I have this to regret, that too often when I loved, I did not say so. FML

JJindahouse says: So I have one good game and our front office lets Big Al go? FML

CrazyLegs says: I like the WNBA. FML

daTNracoon09 says: so i pick up the hooker, we down a fifth of jack, do a couple lines off of each other’s backs, then she passes out right before we got goin FML

So, what do you think? Are these our beloved Tennessee Titans players posting their dissapointments on FML, or one giant coincidence? Let us know what you think in the comments…

Lightspeed Links

March 5th, 2009 by Spizz | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Some call them quick links. I think that’s an understatement. Behold, the world’s fastest links:

The Onion wrote something about Albert Haynesworth. It’s kind of funny, and (more importantly), about a former Titan. Actually, I found this article of their’s about Mike Holmgren a lot funnier. He probably said something about the Titans at some point, so it also counts.

Also, some ivy-leagued egghead wrote a dazzlingly intelligent analysis of the Titan’s acquisition of Nate Dogg Washington and our catapulting of Justin Gage to California. (Note: that last sentence wasn’t sarcastic at all. It’s really well-written.) Pretty interesting for anyone statistically-minded that cares to read 2,000+ words about Titans wide receivers.

Enjoy.
