I am sure plenty of people will come out and label him a traitor and chastise him for not understanding the importance of losing 59-0, but he made a joke of it on the Dan Patrick Show, and I found it pretty funny.
Here is the direct quote:
“We had those first three games; we could have gone either way. Then we had three that that didn’t go well – we had that moral victory at New England, keeping them under 60.”
I won’t lie, that made me chuckle. TRAITOR!!!!
He also had this jab for Pete Carroll I immensely enjoyed:
“It’s different from the standpoint that (in college) Pete could sit down with his recruiting coordinator and he can identify the top 12 players in the country and you go out and get them all.”
HIYOOOOO!!!

This guy exudes humor
I plan on tackling the overall issue of the myths of NFL coaching and specifically the myths about Jeff Fisher, but I wanted to discuss some specific issues related to the Colts game this past weekend.
Jeff Fisher is a rather polarizing figure around Middle Tennessee, and this season has brought out both sides of fans, including myself. I have written a post on how firing Jeff Fisher was absurd and followed that up just a couple weeks later with a post about how it wasn’t so absurd. I then wrote one a week or so ago about how no matter what we want, if Vince Young keeps winning Fisher is staying. I still stick by that, but there has been some criticism of Jeff for the past game against the Colts. As usual, the criticism then carries over into past “transgressions”, and people begin to tie it all together. However, several of these criticisms just are not valid. A few are, but for the most part, Jeff has proven to be a very good coach. So I will now give my opinion on what the myths are surrounding Fisher and how they specifically relate to this game.

And so it ends. The hope for a playoff spot. Peyton Manning proved to be a lot better than Nick Harper, and the Titans couldn’t find a way to disrupt him. It was a rough game to watch, and field goals proved to be the Titans response to touchdowns. That’s how this team has played against the Colts, and it’s a frustrating pattern. So without further adieu, I give you the review.

Earlier this season, I wrote post on why I thought firing Jeff Fisher was patently absurd. Then, the Titans went out and lost in horrible ways, including a 59-0 dismantling by a team I hate more than life itself Chick Flicks. At this point, I did an about face and wrote about how firing Jeff Fisher wasn’t really so absurd anymore. Well, this one is in a totally different tone. It’s not about whether it’s absurd, it’s about whether he can or can’t get fired. And it’s a simple relationship: the more Vince Young wins, the more Jeff Fisher can’t be fired.
Now, logically most people think Jeff Fisher played Kerry Collins 3 weeks too long and that he should be blamed, not commended, for the way he handled the Vince Young – Kerry Collins situation. I tend to blame him for it. I thought Young should’ve taken over after the Jacksonville debacle. Regardless, it doesn’t matter. If Vince Young wins, Jeff Fisher stays.
Why? Why should Fisher have a right to stay if Vince is winning? Well, it isn’t about right. It’s about stability. Vince Young is certainly winning. In the process, he has shown that he now has an amazing grasp of the Mike Heimerdinger offense. He knows the proper reads. He knows the plays. He knows this offense inside and out. He is running it beautifully. By firing Fisher, the Titans risk ALL of this.

HEY!! LOOK!!! Bud Adams wants Vince Young to start!! He just said it!!!… a week ago.
This annoys the shit out of me. Adams doesn’t see Vince in practice. He doesn’t see him in film study. He probably doesn’t even talk to Vince that often. He’s 86 years old. Yet he knows who should start?
This won’t end well with Vince. When the owner starts dictating from on high it rarely, if ever, ends well.
And don’t cite 2006. How’d that work out for Vince long term? Think he could’ve used some more time for development and not have as much pressure on him? Think that might have helped a bit?

Vince is being set up to fail again... and he will.

So, a wonderful football weekend took place. Why was it so wonderful? The Titans didn’t lose. SWEET!! Felt so good not to lose. So, after much contemplation, I’ve decided to steal the schtick of… every crappy sportswriter ever. Here are the five things we know about the Tennessee Titans coming out of the Bye Week:
There it is. The five things we know about the Tennessee Titans coming out of the Week 7 Bye. GO TITANS!

“I just wanted to feel like a winner.”
This is what Jeff Fisher said when he sported a Peyton Manning jersey at a charity event. That he wanted to feel like a winner. I don’t know about any other Titans fans, but I’m pretty pissed. You are the head coach of a winless team. You were just embarrassed in New England. And what do you do a few days later? Try and joke around when your job is on the ice.
I’ve been a big Jeff Fisher fan over the years, but this pushed me over the edge. The Colts are our biggest division rivals. As a fan, I HATE the Colts. Hate. And it is embarrassing to me to see our head coach sporting Colts gear. It’s insulting. And if you want to feel like a winner? Go out and win some games, you jackass. I’d feel very differently if we were 2-3, or even had a win to speak of. But the Titans have been getting progressively worse as the season trudges on, and Jeff Fisher is primarily to blame. As Rogersworthe wrote, if the season were to end today would you fire Jeff Fisher? My answer is yes. And this bullshit incident helped convince me. Wear a Kyle Orton jersey. Not the jersey of our biggest division rival of the past decade.

Kerry Collins has told Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean that he still expects to be the starter coming out of the bye week. The question I first think of is, “Why?” Here are the reasons, none that I agree with, I would see as reasons why Collins would remain the starter:
These are the only reasons I can think of as to why Kerry would still be the starter coming out of the Bye week. I don’t get it… Anybody else have any other crazy ideas?
