PosseCast: NFL Lines Week 15

December 17th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Fantasy Football, PosseCasts

So Lando and The Meena join me as usual, but we have a special cameo by Spizz for him to talk about his epic win in the greatest Fantasy Football League in the world, The Pickle Factory. The final playoff spot up for grabs, he faced the one guy who had the same record as him. Winner take all, Spizz was down by 6 going into the Monday Night game with Vernon Davis against Anquan Boldin. Davis then outplayed Boldin and won the game by .28 of a point.

After Spizz finished bragging, Lando, The Meena, and I move on to review Week 14 and then go on into picking the games for Week 15. We also ended up discussing things like HGH in the NFL, Mike Holmgren to Cleveland, Jamarcus Russell vs. Ryan Leaf for biggest bust ever, and the Chris Johnson vs. Ted Ginn racing controversy.

Anyways, this one is a doozy so take a listen and enjoy the ramblings of 3 geniuses.

  • Rogersworthe – Week 14 Record: 8-8 Season Record: 93-81-2
  • The Meena – Week 14 Record: 11-5 Season Record: 85-89-2

A little Fantasy Football Braggadocio

November 4th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 1 Comment | Filed in Fantasy Football

Lando, as always, takes forever to do Hotties and Fuglies so I thought I’d give you a little taste of Fantasy Football while you wait.

I’ve mentioned it before, but I am going to say it again. The Pickle Factory is the greatest fantasy football league in the world. It is truly awesome and amazing. Lando, Spizz, the Raging Clam, the Meena, and I are all in it, plus a few others. I inform you how great it is for a reason. That reason is so that you truly understand my greatness. Just so you understand how great I truly am, I will give you some history of the Pickle Factory:

  • The Pickle Factory was founded 3 years ago by Lando under the name Watch Out for Snakes. He still serves as chief commissioner.
  • Lando and I have worked hours and hours to produce the perfect defensive players fantasy scoring system. None of that D/ST bullshit.
  • The first year, I finished 2nd, losing in the Championship game because the guy I played had lucked into Tom Brady, and this was the year Brady threw 50 TDs. My team name was the Brigadoons. So awesome.
  • The second year, last year, I won it. I beat Lando in the semifinal 125.74 to 121.78 and then went on to crush Spizz 160.60 to 109.00. Way to choke, jackhole.
  • So, remember. I have a 1st and a 2nd place finish for two years of existence of this amazing league.

Lando’s Hotties and Fuglies: Week 4

September 30th, 2009 by Lando | 12 Comments | Filed in Fantasy Football

It’s another cold day in the sun.

The Titans loss to the Jets leaves a horrible taste in my mouth, and not even crushing the opposition in my fantasy league can wash it away.  Watching your favorite sports team of all time losing but winning in fantasy is like winning ten cents in the lottery.  Moment of silence for the Titans playoff hopes…

Alright back on track for the Hotties and Fuglies of Week 4.  Last week was a tad bit bumpy in the Hotties section thanks to Matt Forte.  What the heck is going on?  You’re lucky I’m a stud and have an insanely deep team or you’d definitely end up on “Lando’s Revenge List.”  But I was on fire with pointing out the Fuggliest of the Fugly last week.  With the exception of Carson Palmer everyone on that list did terribly.  Which just goes to show you that I’m the ONLY one who knows what he’s talking about.

Hotties:

  • Jay Cutler:  Despite his needing a tampon every half, he’s looking surprisingly good this week.  Lions got their first W in 19 games, but Chicago is a sight better on offense then the Redskins.  He’s hot, but in a bitchy way.
  • Eli Manning:   Very solid season so far.  Usually not a top quality QB option for fantasy, but he is having a darn good season.  Playing against the Chiefs is probably one of the easiest things you could ask of him as well.  I could play well against the Chiefs… in Madden.
  • Brett Favre:  John Madden and Peter King know what I’m talking about.
  • Matt Forte:  Dare I say it?  Last week I thought he would have a tremendous game against the terrible, terrible Seahawks.  And he played…. not great.  So this is your final week.  If you don’t get in the God forsaken end zone this week, the list.  That’s all I have to say about you.
  • Adrian “Killer Croc” Peterson:  I have a confession to make.  I’ve been copying and pasting his name for the past three weeks.  The guy is a hoss.  I would let my son come out of the closet for him.  Big game against Green Bay and Croc will step up to the challenge.  I haven’t seen those weird Nike commercials in awhile with him in there.  Guess they got cancelled because everyone was confused and slightly annoyed by them.
  • Cedric Benson:  I know.  I’m as surprised as you are.  If you had told me that the Bengals would be 2-1 and my beloved Titans would be 0-3 I would laugh and tell you to stop huffing all that glue.  Facts are facts though.  Bengals are not half bad and the Browns are.  Nuff said.
  • Greg Jennings:  What is Minnesota’s defense known for besides steroid use and lake house orgies?  Run D.  Not so much for their pass defense.  Jennings is one of the best deep threat receivers in the league in my personal opinion.  And my opinion is usually right.
  • Reggie Wayne:  Must be great to be the ONLY target besides Dallas Clark that Peyton Manning likes to throw to.  Those two are dangerous.  Akon and Michael Jackson agree with me too.
  • The Other Steve Smith:  Him and Eli look amazing.  At least for the week.  It’s a huge trend, everyone is hot against the Chiefs.

August 24th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Fantasy Football

We here at T-Rac’s Posse are in a fantasy football league with our fellow Titans Bloggers from Music City Miracles and Titan Sized to see which blogger will reign supreme among Tennessee Titans Fan Bloggers. However, we also have two spots open for fans to join this league. To decide which fans get to fill this spot, Music City Miracles is hosting a contest where you will write 200 words or less as to why you deserve one of the two final spots.

To compete, you just head to the link provided above, register quickly as a member of MCM, then write your 200 words in the comment section of the FanPost on MCM regarding this contest.

The two best (read as most funny and/or creative) entries will be awarded the two remaining spots in the league.

Updates of scores, wins, and losses will be provided here at T-Rac’s Posse if you wish to follow along.

So, fans who wish to show their fantasy mettle against the Tennessee Titans Fan Blogger community, head on over to Music City Miracles and tell us why you deserve to be in the league.

T-Rac takin' it easy in his Lay-Z-Boy. What a badass. And yes, I know it has nothing to do with this post.

PosseCast: Brett Favre and the misery of Cleveland

August 20th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in PosseCasts

So I am joined by Lando, our fantasy expert, and our most recurring guest Andrew from Los Angeles. We discuss Brett Favre, the pitiful nature of the Cleveland Browns, PETA and its stupidity, and the weirdness of NFL Players owning Car Washes.

This one came out well and is quite funny. It helps we all hate Brett Favre and love making fun of him. If you enjoy this also, THEN DEFINITELY LISTEN!

However, if you love Brett Favre, then stop reading my site you asshole. Also don’t listen to this.

A Few Steps Further

July 27th, 2009 by Lando | 1 Comment | Filed in Fantasy Football

It’s almost August.  Just a few days away, and then we’ll be gearing up for the start of the NFL season.  And with that, comes the start of Fantasy Football.  After writing about my top five picks, I received a few emails from some Posse fans and decided to have my very first Fantasy mailbag.  Enjoy!

Brian, Hendersonville TN:

Hey Lando!

Are any of those Fantasy Football Magazines worth getting, or is it 50 pages of the same thing you can read on ESPN or NFL.com?

I personally think that most of those magazines are a waste of time.  You will essentially read the same garbage over and over again, maybe gleaning one or two helpful hints.  ESPN does a fairly decent job, and NFL.com has great rankings.  But for the bare essentials I would check out tracsposse.com.  That’s just me though.

Robert, Mt. Pleasant TN:

Hey man, I got a question.  I really like your Lesean McCoy pick

Umm…. that’s not a question.  However, he is an excellent handcuff to have for all Brian Westbrook owners.  I had Westbrook last year in a league, and just for safety purposes had Correll Buckhalter on my bench.  Westbrook is very injury prone, and is almost always a game time decision.  So it’d be a good thing to have McCoy in your back pocket.

Nigel, Science Hill TN:

Dude,
I just found out I’ll have the 5th pick in the draft, which sticks me smack dab in the middle of every round. What should be my drafting strategy for the 1st 3 rounds? I was thinking maybe taking a WR with my 1st, a QB with my 2nd and not getting my RB until the 3rd round. What do you think? How should I approach this?

5 isn’t as bad as you think.  You might miss out on a top-tier running back, but that’s not the end of the world.  If you’re thinking of taking a WR in the first round then do it.  Draft who you like, because they probably won’t be there when it comes time for you to pick again.  And you can do the WR, QB, and RB road if you want.  It all depends on who is available and who you like.  You could draft Andre Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald in the first, maybe land Tom Brady or Peyton Manning in the second, and still get a good back by the third.  I think the old strategy of RB/RB in the first two rounds is already outdated.  So take who you like and don’t sweat the fact that you’re in the middle of every round.  Just avoid doing what The Raging Clam did last year by not drafting Dallas Clark in the 3rd round.

Fantasy Football Preview 2009: A Taste of Things to Come

July 15th, 2009 by Lando | 8 Comments | Filed in Fantasy Football

July.  For patriotic Americans, this is a memorable month.  Named after the illustrious Alexander the Great, we declared our independence from the tyrant King George.  It is also when there is a dead zone in all sports that causes a patriot like me to die of boredom.  Football is a month away, and I feel like I’m a junior in high school again.  You can almost taste the freedom, yet it’s just beyond your reach.  I can almost feel football, feel the preseason.  But only one more month.

But the past few years, I have found something to revive me from my boredom and it’s two words.  Fantasy Football.  It’s become an obsession of mine, something to keep me occupied while I twiddle my thumbs and wait for the preseason to start.  And I’ve decided to end boredom for every football fan by posting some of my preseason rankings for fantasy football.  I’m only going to post my top 5 players for the IMPORTANT positions: running back, quarterback, wide receiver, and tight end.  I’ll also list some of my sleepers and busts for the upcoming season, so here goes.
