Lightspeed Links: I am Bill Belichick

March 25th, 2010 by Rogersworthe | 1 Comment | Filed in Lightspeed Links

In Music City Miracles’ Commenter Mock Draft, I represented the Patriots. It’s a good thing I am not really the Patriots General Manager, because my pick would probably propel them to 4 more Super Bowls.

PosseCast: NFL Lines Week 11

November 19th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in PosseCasts

I am joined by Lando and The Meena for a mega podcast. We start of debating the 4th down call from the Patriots-Colts game. From there, we delve into college football and the insanity that is the BCS system. We also end up discussing the Bud Adams middle finger “scandal”, and we’re all in agreement there: Bud Adams is a badass.

At this point we review the action from Week 10, and are shocked to find out Theodore beat both The Meena and I in picking games based on the logic that Detroit plays dirty and the Wisconsin cheese would “infect the Dallas people”. Sigh…

We then move on to Week 11 and pick the games against the spread. I finish off the podcast by having my old roommate, Simon, pick the Week 11 games as the representative of the “guy who knows nothing about the NFL”.

Lando is in rare form for this Podcast and comes after both The Meena and I several times. Quite hilarious. So take a listen and enjoy the arguing and yelling and off-color jokes.

The world must be ending because… (gulp)… I’m defending Bill Belichick

November 16th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 3 Comments | Filed in Media Failures

The world is a strange place. I despise New England, Boston, Tom Brady, and Bill Belichick more than any other region, city, team, people, and person in the world. If you want proof of this, go here.

I have no love for the Colts either. They’re a rival franchise that has beaten us far too many times for my liking. However, as I was Live Twitter Blogging the game last night, @tevetorbes  summed my feelings up best:

as a titans fan, I’m conflicted: I want the Colts to lose but I want the Pats to die in a dumpster fire.

EXACTLY. I don’t like the Colts, but the Patriots represent the Dark Prince himself. They represent evil. They represent the Twilight movie series. They represent what is wrong with the world. They ARE global warming.

And yet… here I stand. Ready to defend the man who is the Evil Emperor of this Kingdom of Death and Despair. “Why Rogersworthe? Why would you defend this evil man, the personification of Screwtape himself?”

Bill Belichick may be evil - but hes smarter than anybody at ESPN

Bill Belichick may be evil - but he's smarter than anybody at ESPN

Because it is not Belichick I defend. It is progressive, smart, innovative football.

Fire Jeff Fisher? That’s absurd

October 7th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 35 Comments | Filed in Tennessee Titans

So with this 0-4 start the grumblings have begun: it is time to fire Jeff Fisher. This is not the cry of the majority of the fanbase, but a significant enough portion to where the conversation is being had. However, I am telling you now, firing Jeff Fisher is a VERY BAD IDEA.

Jeff is still a top 10 coach in this league

Jeff is still a top 10 coach in this league

We all know about how this season has taken the expectations of Titans fans and the team and crapped all over them. 4 weeks in and the Titans have already lost more games than last year. It is almost excepted wisdom that it is time to bring back Vince Young. Most fans have given up on making the playoffs, they just want to see the Titans avoid total embarrassment at 3-13 (some people even have 0-16 in the back of their heads).

So, who does the fanbase blame when these expectations aren’t met? The coaches. And this year, I believe it is deservedly so. However, that does not mean it is time to end the Jeff Fisher era. You don’t just fire a top 10 coach for one season of unmatched expectations. (more…)

Lightspeed Links: Too funny not to share

September 3rd, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Lightspeed Links

Well, I have found a few links, some football related, some not, that are too funny not to share. Here goes:

Bill Belichick cries and his tears eat through the podium. That’s just funny. I still am laughing about it. I love the Onion.

Texas jokes always rule.

Jason Whitlock losing what little sanity he had left and going after Mike Lupica, Scoop Jackson, Stuart Scott, Rick Reilly, and more. All in an article about Eri nAndrews going on Oprah. My favorite two excerpts are the lashings he gives Rick Reilly and Peter King:

Rick Reilly: In a cliche and pointless 800-word column that will be read by tens of hundreds of readers who find it while looking for Bill Simmons’ column, Reilly will reveal how his agent hoodwinked ESPN into a $3-million-a-year contract.

Peter King: Plans to release steamy pics of himself spooning and sipping Starbucks coffee with Brett Favre while watching the movie “Steel Magnolias.”

OH NO HE DIDN’T!!! I love it. I know the average person hates Jason Whitlock and he has pissed me off royally several times, but I find him extremely fun and entertaining. Who else has the balls to write this piece and offend that many people? NOBODY. Bill Simmons WISHES he had the balls to write that.

Deadspin writes an article about a ridiculous rant done by Adam Carolla. I hate Adam Carolla. I don’t think he is funny. But this is funny just to see how angry he is at ESPN. Seeing someone call ESPN a bunch of “Chicken retard pussy bosses” is always a treat.

I hope these keep you entertained for a bit as they did for me. The Whitlock piece is truly hilarious. I loved it.

Hopefully Lando will be Live Tweeting the game tonight. We’ll see if he can. I will not be available, unfortunately. If I had to miss a game though, this is the game.
