Top 10 Titans: Tight Ends

August 19th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 2 Comments | Filed in Top 10 Titans

So here we are again with another Top 10 Titans list, and we have moved to Tight Ends. This list with hopefully be more impressive than the last two, which were Top 10 WRs and Top 10 QBs. Those are rough lists. Let’s see what we got in store for our Tight Ends.

The rules stay the same, to make the list you must have played for the Tennessee TITANS, not the Tennessee Oilers, not the Houston Oilers, and not the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This means only stats from 1999-now count. That means many of Wycheck’s best seasons do not count towards his status on this list.

  • 10. Brian “The Brain” Natkin – Mr. Natkin has the honor of being the 10th best Titan TE (shorthand for “Tight End”. Make a mental note) in history. His stats? 2 receptions for 42 yards and 0 Touchdowns. His nickname? Something he called himself so people would think he had some sort of worth on this team.

Who doesn't remember the Brian "The Brain" Natkin era?

  • 9. Ben Hartsock – 18 Recs for 206 yards and 0 TDs before bolting for the big money in Atlanta. What a traitor.
  • 8. Alge Crumpler – While definitely not this low in terms of overall career, his numbers as a Tennessee Titan place him at this spot. 24 Rec 257 Yds and 1 TD doesn’t cut it for any higher. However, some of the people ahead of him on this list took several years to compile slightly better numbers. (more…)

Top 10 Titans: Quarterbacks

August 3rd, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 3 Comments | Filed in Top 10 Titans
So, after being inspired enough by a discussion on Music City Miracles to write this post on the Top 10 Titans Wide Receivers of all time , I have decided to continue the listing of Top 10 Titans at various positions. Here is the highly anticipated list of TOP 10 QUARTERBACKS IN TENNESSEE TITANS HISTORY!!!!
  • 10. Alex Mortensen – He has gotten enough peripheral media coverage due to who his Dad is to stick out from the rest of the Quarterbacks who have never made the Titans final roster.

This 12 year old is the 10th best Titans QB of all time. Sweet, huh?

  • 9. Mike Green – He threw only two passes for the two-toned blue. Both were interceptions. Both returned quite a distance. His average yards per attempt? -45.0. In fact, I don’t understand why he is listed as a QB, because we drafted him out of Houston in the 7th round as a RB. -45.0. Wow.
  • 8. Chris Simms – He had one completion in two attempts for 7 yards. Also, no interceptions. That gets you pretty high on this list.
  • 7. Matt Mauck - Well, Mr. Mauck will be able to tell his grandkids that he was 15 for 27 with 136 yards, 0 Touchdowns and 1 Interception in his career. That is most definitely good enough for 7th all-time on T-Rac’s Official Tennessee Titans Top 10 Greatest QB’s List. Prestigious company. (more…)

Inspired by a discussion on Music City Miracles about Kevin Dyson being a top 10 receiver in Titans history, it got me to thinking “Who are the top 10 players in Titans history by position?” So, during the extremely boring period of after NBA finals but before training camp (also known as “baseball season” which is also known as HELL) I will be comin’ at ya with the lists of top 10 Titans of all time.

Here are the rules and guidelines: This is TITANS history so it only includes players who played in Nashville and wore a Titans jersey while here. That’s all the rules. ONTO THE LIST!!
