Posse Preview: Super Bowl 44 – Colts vs. Saints

February 5th, 2010 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Posse Preview, Super Bowl

Here it is, what you have all been waiting for… the last Posse Preview of the season! Admit it. You’ve been waiting. Well… lets get down to business, shall we?

How the Saints win the game: Offense. Offense. Offense. I think the Saints will need a 35+ point output to win. Luckily for them, that is possible. But it’s not just the points, it’s the consistency. If they put up 28 points before the half but then repeat the 2nd half they had against the Vikings, they’ll still lose. They need two consistent halves of moving the ball, eating up clock, and scoring touchdowns.

They also will have to somehow win the turnover battle. Since that is mainly luck though, hard to plan on that.

Come on buddy, win one for a random Titans fan blog!!

Posse Preview: Conference Championship Week

January 22nd, 2010 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Posse Preview

These games are actually rather appealing. I really look forward to the Saints-Vikings game. The downside to both games is the fact that there is a chance for the Abominable Apocalypse happening – Jets vs. Vikings. If that happens, I may just become a NBA fan and turn this into a Memphis Grizzlies blog. Ric Bucher and Mark Stein don’t care about football!! They can be my friends! Anyways… The upside to the Abominable Apocalypse is the fact that my two least favorite QBs in the world, Mark Sanchez and Brett Favre, could be utterly humiliated on a national stage of multi-million viewers. Considering how this season has been the most roller coaster season for me as a fan ever, I have no idea what will happen, but it will be one extreme or the other. It will either be Saints vs. Colts Super Bowl, or the Abominable Apocalypse.

Please… just this once… LET ME KEEP MY SANITY!!!

Indianapolis Colts (-8) vs. New York Jets: All of the dumb storylines about how the Colts let the Jets in the playoffs and now have to face them aside, the Colts are a lot better than the Jets. Peyton Manning won’t be affected by the blitzing. The only question is how well will everybody but Reggie Wayne play? With Revis on Wayne for most of the game, I don’t see Wayne becoming a huge factor. I don’t think it will matter much though. I do see the Colts utilizing their running game more than usual, and I also see Dallas Clark having a big game.

I have only cheered directly for Peyton Manning a couple of times in my life. This is another one of those times. Please Manning, DO NOT LET MARK SANCHEZ INTO THE SUPER BOWL!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!

Verdict: Colts win 28-14.

Don't fail me now, you smug sonofabitch.

Posse Preview: Divisional Round of the Playoffs

January 15th, 2010 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Posse Preview

Man, I hope this weeks slate of games turns out better than last weeks. Last week was pretty, pretty, pretty rough. What’s funny is the spreads from this week are much bigger than last week. That probably means the games will be closer then. So, lets preview:

Arizona at New Orleans -7: This game seems like it would be high scoring. I don’t picture another 51-45, but it could end up 38-31 or something. This is also one of those rare games where either team could blow the other one out and I wouldn’t be surprised. However… I think New Orleans has a better defense than Arizona and New Orleans will take an early lead and use that running game of theirs to really put the game on ice. I see New Orleans winning and covering by a score of 38-24.

He might quite a deal with the devil

Baltimore at Indianapolis -6.5: This is where it will pay off for the Colts not winning their last two games and being 16-0 right now, because I could easily see them being bounced by Baltimore in this spot.
/Checks Joe Flacco’s stats from preview week

Just kidding! He he he. Colts win while Joe Flacco murders any chance his team has at this game: 27-17.

Was this taken in front of your parents house, Flacco?

Posse Preview: Wild Card Weekend

January 8th, 2010 by Rogersworthe | 1 Comment | Filed in Posse Preview

Yeah, it sucks the Titans aren’t in the playoffs. But I have to admit, as a diehard NFL fan, I will watch every game anyways. So, I figured if I will be watching every game, I will write down my completely meaningless thoughts on the games.

NY Jets at Cincinnati Bengals -2.5:

I’m thinking of going with the Bengals here. Mark Sanchez on the road in a playoff game is going to be totally different than last week vs. the Bengals. And so far, in big time games, Sanchez has looked pretty awful. The only way the Jets win is if they run all over the Bengals, and I don’t think they will this time. At least not enough to keep from Sanchez throwing the ball. I mean, seriously, if Sanchez starts passing this could turn into a blowout for the Bengals.

However, the Bengals are the Bengals and it’s not like Carson Palmer is setting the world on fire. On top of it, Benson is injured (although he will play) so they might not run as effectively as they have all year. Also, the Jets defense excels at creating havoc and forcing QBs into dumb decisions. If there is one team in the AFC playoffs the Jets could beat, it’s the Bengals.

Verdict: Bengals to cover the spread. No way I take Mark Sanchez on the road in the playoffs.

The Bengals really look like they don't care here

Philadelphia at Dallas -4:

Dallas has crushed Philadelphia twice. Why? Because the Cowboys right now are built perfectly to beat this talented but flawed Eagles team. The Eagles are a big play team. They don’t run the ball well enough to maintain consistent balance and their Receivers aren’t built for the short passing game. The Eagles have to get big plays to score. The Cowboys, though, generate a great pass rush and never give the Eagles time for their big plays to develop and their strategy in coverage is to gamble on McNabb not being accurate enough to pick them apart down the field. They have been right twice this year.

The Eagles offense can strike at any time. Even in the last game, Desean Jackson was open 3 or 4 times for sure touchdowns that McNabb just missed. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Eagles jump up early and Dallas to implode and it turn out to be a blowout in the Eagles favor this time around.

Verdict: Philadelphia. 3 losses to Dallas? I don’t see it.

This guy is kinda fast

Baltimore at New England -3.5:

Posse Preview: Titans vs. Dolphins Week 15

December 18th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Posse Preview

Week 15… Sad. I will miss you football!!! Anyways, this game is it. If the Titans win, they will live a little longer. If they lose, then they’re out and we as Titans fans will begin to Google “Todd McShay Mock Draft” at a furious pace. And away we go!!!!!!

We will need to see some high flying Vince to win this game

We will need to see some high flying Vince to win this game

Strengths for the Titans

  • Chris Johnson: Always a strength. I can’t imagine what it is like for a defense trying to prepare for him. Do they just let a Cheetah loose on the field or something? If they do, can somebody film it? I would watch that.
  • Vince Young (if healthy): Another type of player who is hard to simulate in practice. However, if his running ability is taken away, that will hurt the Titans tremendously. Not because Vince can’t pass but because the Dolphins are a good pass rushing team, and if Vince can’t neutralize that Pass Rush with the threat of his running, it could be a long day. The battle between the Titans O-Line and the Dolphins pass rush will be a big one, and Vince’s legs could tip the scales in the Titans favor.

Posse Preview: Titans vs. Rams Week 14

December 10th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | No Comments | Filed in Posse Preview

What an exciting game!! This should be the Sunday night game, shouldn’t it? LETS PREVIEW THIS BARN BURNER!!!

Chris Johnson is going head to head with his competition for #1 RB

Chris Johnson is going head to head with his competition for #1 RB

How the Titans Win

  • By being better than the Rams: The Titans are 5-7. But they’re light years better than the Rams. They’ll win because they’re better at every single position on the field except maybe Runningback, but when you factor in Offensive Line, then the Titans get the edge there too.

How the Titans lose

To the Rams? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Won’t happen. NEXT!!

Who is the better Runningback: Chris Johnson or Steven Jackson?

I’ll take Chris Johnson. Both backs are unbelievable. Jackson is just awesome. But with Chris Johnson, it always comes back to his speed for me. I would take that speed over anything. It just changes the game so much. It changes how defenses play. It’s the X factor. I know I am being a total homer and if Steven Jackson was on a team with a good Offensive Line and a decent QB, he’d be one of the most popular and great players in the NFL, but I still take Johnson. He is a force like none other right now. I am really enjoying the ride.

Official Prediction

The Titans won’t lose. If I wasn’t a Titans fan, I wouldn’t even bother watching. Titans Win 28-17.

Posse Preview: Titans vs. Colts Week 13

December 4th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 3 Comments | Filed in Posse Preview

At the beginning of the year I had a feeling this  game would matter. Then that feeling died a horrible death amid 0-6 and 59-0. A scant five weeks later, and this game is the only game to get 5 Throwgasms from Drew Magary of Kissing Suzy Kolber and Deadspin. Crazy world, huh? Well here we are. For the 3rd Week in a row, this game qualifies as the most important game of the season. Soooo… lets preview it!

I really, really, really want to see this several times

Strengths for the Titans

  • Ball Control: With Vince’s ability to pick up 1st downs running or throwing along with Chris Johnson has given the Titans mojo back in being able to control the clock. Miami gave the blueprint on how to beat Indy. Now, the Titans need to use that blueprint and finish the game.
  • Chris Johnson: He’s on fire. Indy’s D is not good against the run. The Titans will need a big game from him to win.

Posse Preview: Titans vs. Texans Week 11 – The Battle of the Johnsons

November 23rd, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 4 Comments | Filed in Posse Preview

Ah yes. The Texans. A team I have come to hate more and more. So here we are, in roles I would’ve never predicted before the season. The Titans have a chance to play spoilers to the Texans playoff hopes. I know at 5-5 they wouldn’t technically be out of it, but that’d put them on the path to 8-8, which is where they always end up. Also, 8-8 isn’t making it to the playoffs this year. Alright, so lets preview this sucker.

Id love to see CJ crack 200 yards on MNF

I'd love to see CJ crack 200 yards on MNF

Strengths for the Titans

  • CHRIS JOHNSON: I wouldn’t be surprised to see this turn into the “Chris Johnson Show” as he breaks 200 yards on national TV and he becomes a national sensation.
  • Pass Rush: It’s back. And we’ll ne ed it.
  • Field Goal Kicking: It might matter in this game. Kris Brown vs. Indy, anyone?

Weaknesses for the Titans

  • Coverage: If the pass rush doesn’t get there, it will get painful. In a hurry. It would help if Griffin didn’t take off in a full sprint at the line of scrimmage every play action.
  • Playing from behind: This team is not built to get in a shootout with the Texans, and it could turn into that in a hurry.
  • Andre Johnson: Scary…

Posse Preview Week 10: Titans vs. Bills

November 13th, 2009 by Rogersworthe | 1 Comment | Filed in Posse Preview

I am extremely confident in a win for this game. I know, I know you never want to overlook any team in the NFL, one game at a time, blah blah blah. But I’m a fan, and I’m allowed to. So I am. I am totally overlooking the Buffalo Bills. Did you know the last time they made the playoffs was the Music City Miracle? HAHAHA. Losers. And on top of it, they have the worst run defense in the NFL and Chris Johnson is on fire right now. If someone from the future told me Chris Johnson will rush for 350 yards, I wouldn’t even blink. I’d probably respond with, “On how many carries? 16?” Then future man would respond, “You haven’t blinked in 2 straight minutes. That’s unhealthy.” And future man would have a point, but so would I. I wouldn’t be surprised by anything from Chris Johnson.

350 yards? Yeah, I can see that.

350 yards? Yeah, I can see that.

Alright, so lets preview this baby. Just a warning, I’m trying out a new format here from my normal previews.

Titans Running Game vs. Bills Run Defense

  • Titans O-Line vs. Bills Front Seven: Not a contest. The Titans Offensive Line will march down upon the Bills Defensive Front Seven like (as Bill Cosby would say) all the Indians in the world running down on General Custer. It’ll be a massacre. The Bills will get so beat up that in the 4th Quarter they will just turn and run after the ball is hiked. Advantage: Titans
