Posse Review: Super Bowl 44 – Colts vs. Saints

February 8th, 2010 by Rogersworthe | Filed under Posse Review, Super Bowl.

WHAAAA!?!?!?! This is so great. Peyton Manning, the man who could have solidified his position as the greatest Quarterback ever, and in one game he finds a way to move himself back a spot. EVERYBODY is ripping him. I couldn’t have imagined a better outcome. Let me take you through the emotional rollercoaster that was my manic thought process throughout the game:

1st Quarter: Colts 10 Saints 0. Peyton Looked awesome, and I was pissed that on 3rd and 2 the Saints went deep. Cost them a drive and it looked like this game was headed for blowout central. Anybody else dread this could finish with the Colts winning by 20+ after the 1st Quarter? I did.

He looked unstoppable in the 1st Quarter and I felt sick.

2nd Quarter: Saints 6 Colts 0. Talk about ball control!! The Saints had 26 of the 32 final plays of the 2nd half… but they couldn’t score touchdowns. When the Saints got stuffed on that 4th and goal, I was convinced, even while the got the ball back and kicked a field goal, that they were in some serious trouble. YOU GOTTA SCORE TOUCHDOWNS AGAINST THE COLTS!!! Oh man. I was convinced the Colts had this in the bag. And then…

3rd Quarter: Saints 10 Colts 7. ONSIDE KICK!!! HOLY SHIT!!!! WHAT IS GOING ON!!! ARE THE SAINTS GONNA WIN??? THIS IS AWESOME!!!! I did a complete about face and thought the Saints were going to win this game.

Pierre Thomas scored the TD that got the Saints back in the game

4th Quarter: All Saints. They won the quarter 15-0 and sealed their first Super Bowl. Peyton Manning shot his legacy in the face with a sawed off shotgun, and Drew Brees convinced moronic sportswriters that he is a great QB, which Football Outsiders along with us have already been saying he is there.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SUCK IT MANNING!!

A few quick thoughts on that Manning Interception.

  1. In no way should this affect his legacy one way or the other. He is great before that pass, and is great after. How great? Up for debate, but this doesn’t alter his place in history.
  2. Tracy Porter ate that horrible, horrible throw alive. Very impressive move by him to jump that route as hard as he did.
  3. I love it. Die Manning, die.

Despite the final score, I must say that was a damn good game. I enjoyed it. Another successful Super Bowl. Congrats to the Saints and all their fans.

Now we can begin to hate you, too.
