Vanden Bosch makes the Pro Bowl? Okay, this is ridiculous…

January 25th, 2010 by Rogersworthe | Filed under Pro Bowl.

I am all for Titans making the Pro Bowl. However, I would like for it to be deserved. With Vanden Bosch now making the Pro Bowl, it has gotten to the point of absurdity.

Vanden Bosch had a very sub-par year. I am not saying he holds no more value (like I do with Kearse), but Pro Bowl? Come on.

The reason why this actually does matter a bit is because value is attributed to Pro Bowl selections. How many times does an announcer say, “X time Pro Bowler X…” It is a common way to refer to players, and you can sure as hell bet agents use Pro Bowl selections in the negotiation process. The Pro Bowl just doesn’t mean anything when Vanden Bosch and David Garrard, the 9th QB choice out of 16+ choices, make it. It’s ridiculous and the NFL should just drop the game.

I love you KVB, but you're not a Pro Bowler.

I absolutely hate the idea of the Pro Bowl for the NFL. I dont really pay much attention to other sports, but their allstar games are not doing much better imho. NBA is a joke, NHL i have never seen. I do like what the MLB has done giving the winning team homefield for Championships, but NFL could never do that w/ neutral location SuperBowls.

Also, after the superbowl noone cares much about football, before the superbowl your going to guarantee that alot of the players selected wont go (either in superbowl and dont want to risk anything, or just recently bounced from playoffs and want to take time off). I dont think there is anything that can be done to salvage it either.

Maybe, just maybe a skills competition i would watch. I know when they used to have things like the QB challenge i always watched it, or when they show the highschool players going through the challenge its at least interesting to watch.

Just too many negatives, not enough positives. They just need to think of something that the NFL's star players would actually participate in and try to do that, people want to see the NFL stars not the 8/9th best players that go because the big guns dont want to go. Just my opinion.

    message was too long.
